Kids aren’t wired to sit still and talk about their feelings for an hour.
They process emotions through:
-
Movement
-
Play
-
Exploration
-
Connection
That’s where outdoor, ACT-based (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) activities come in.
By combining evidence-based therapy techniques with nature and recreation, kids are able to:
-
Open up more naturally
-
Practice skills in real-time
-
Build confidence through experience—not just conversation
This isn’t just a fun outdoor group (although it is that too). It’s intentionally designed to teach skills that carry into everyday life.
During the 6-week program, kids will practice:
-
Emotional awareness & expression
Understanding what they feel and how to communicate it -
Mindfulness in motion
Staying present and grounded—even during stress -
Coping tools for anxiety
Real strategies they can use at school, home, and social situations -
Confidence & resilience
Learning how to handle challenges and bounce back stronger
